England's Nations League Loss to Spain: Bellingham & Gordon Shine, Defence Falters

England suffered a tough 3-2 defeat at home against Spain in a thrilling Nations League fixture, with individual errors and defensive struggles overshadowing positive midfield and attacking performances.

Despite an early setback due to a Marc Guehi error that gifted Spain an early lead through Lamine Yamal, England managed to go into halftime with a 2-1 advantage. However, the team's performance dipped significantly in the second half, allowing Spain to regain control and secure the victory at Wembley.

Goalkeeper James Trafford received a 5.5 rating for making some saves but failing to seize his chance in the starting lineup, conceding three goals. Marc Guehi's rating of 5 reflects a costly, sloppy error for the opening goal, which put England on the back foot early in the match. Ezri Konsa and Jarrell Quansah also had difficult nights defensively, with ratings of 6 and 5.5 respectively, struggling against Spain's fluid attacks.

In midfield, Nico O'Reilly (5.5) contributed an assist but also made a mistake, while Elliot Anderson (6.5) and Myles Lewis-Skelly (6.5) showed flashes of promise and effort. Jude Bellingham stood out with a 7.5 rating for his assist and persistent efforts to create opportunities, a stark contrast to many of his teammates.

Attacking-wise, Bukayo Saka had an off-night, earning a 6 with no successful dribbles and ineffective shots. Anthony Gordon impressed with a 7.5 rating for a lively performance and a well-taken goal. Captain Harry Kane also scored, receiving a 7 for his scrappy goal, though he was unfortunate with a penalty miss.

Substitutes Jarrad Branthwaite, Morgan Gibbs-White, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, and James Garner all came on and received ratings of 6.
