Former Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna is urging caution for Bradley Barcola, suggesting a move to Liverpool might not be the wisest career decision right now due to the club's ongoing transition.
While Liverpool appears to be closing in on a deal for the 23-year-old PSG winger, Sagna believes the Reds' current state of flux could present significant challenges for Barcola.
“Liverpool didn’t have the best season last year, for different reasons of course,” Sagna told The Action Network. “For him, to join the team now, I don’t think it would be a good career choice, especially after winning so much with Paris.”
Sagna acknowledges Liverpool's stature, stating, “Liverpool is one of the most important and respected English clubs. To play for them is something special. But the team seems to be a bit sick and recovering from the last season they had.” He added, “They will get back to their best, but I’m not sure a move right now is the best one for Barcola.”
Barcola had also been linked with a move to Arsenal, a club that could benefit from his attacking flair. However, it seems the player is leaning towards a switch to Anfield, reportedly aiming to secure regular playing time and establish himself as a key player for the Premier League side.
