Manchester United is on the verge of officially announcing the signing of Carlos Baleba from Brighton, with all transfer documents reportedly exchanged and finalized. Renowned football insider Fabrizio Romano has confirmed the deal, valued at an initial £65 million plus £5 million in add-ons, is "100% confirmed."
Romano shared the update on X, stating, "Manchester United and Brighton have exchanged all documents as signed it all for Carlos Baleba deal. £65m plus £5m and sell-on clause agreement, 100% confirmed." This marks a significant move for the Red Devils as they secure their third midfield signing of the summer, aiming to bolster the squad after Casemiro's departure and Manuel Ugarte's injury struggles.
Baleba joins Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos in the midfield overhaul at Old Trafford. The club's acquisition of the talented young Cameroonian international follows his impressive performances for Brighton, highlighting United's strategy to invest in promising talent.
This transfer continues Brighton's trend of developing and selling high-profile young players for substantial profits. The Seagulls have previously seen stars like Moises Caicedo and Joao Pedro depart for top clubs, with former talents also featuring prominently at Arsenal and Liverpool.
While Baleba's arrival is seen as an exciting prospect for Manchester United fans, the team faced a disappointing start to the season with a surprise defeat to Hull City, where new signings Tielemans and Santos were part of the lineup. Fans will be hoping Baleba can provide the needed boost to elevate the team's performance.
