US Sanctions China, Hong Kong Firms Over Iran Weapons Procurement

The United States has imposed sanctions on 11 individuals and entities, including several based in China and Hong Kong, for their alleged support of weapons procurement for Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and its military.

The U.S. Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) announced the designations, specifying that nine of the sanctioned parties are individuals and companies located in China and Hong Kong. These entities are accused of facilitating the acquisition of weapons for the Iranian military. An additional Hong Kong-based company was sanctioned for operating within Iran’s clandestine banking network.

In parallel actions, the U.S. State Department designated two companies and individuals based in Iran and Belarus. These designations are linked to Iran's conventional arms-related activities, according to the Treasury Department statement.
