Arne Slot has reportedly turned down an offer to manage Fulham, just a week after concluding his tenure at Liverpool.
The Dutch manager apparently isn't interested in taking over from Marco Silva at Craven Cottage. This comes as Fulham is now reportedly considering other prominent candidates, including Kieran McKenna and Thomas Frank, according to talkSPORT.
Slot's decision might stem from his potential interest in the Netherlands national team job. Dutch journalist Marcel van der Kraan suggested that Slot could be waiting for the opportunity to manage his country, especially if Ronald Koeman departs after the upcoming World Cup.
"I think Arne Slot is very, very much up for that; he’s probably the ideal candidate," Van der Kraan told talkSPORT. "He can play his Dutch style of football – the passing, attacking style, whatever you call it. I think the Dutch would be happy to have him.”
Slot's time at Liverpool saw a Premier League title win in his first season, though his second campaign was described as a "disaster," potentially influencing his current career choices. Managing Fulham, a step down from a top club, might not align with his future ambitions.
With Fulham needing to find a replacement for Silva, who has moved to manage Benfica, they will now explore other options while Slot's next move remains uncertain, with the Dutch national team job a distinct possibility.
